Imran Henry, 29 of 12 Queen Street, South Cummingsburg was charged with two counts of threatening behaviour towards Corletta Hinds and one charge of unlawfully assaulting Hinds, when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
It is alleged that the offences were committed on April 5 at Queen Street. Henry told the court that the allegations were false. He said he came home and was intoxicated, which resulted in an “exchange of words” with Hinds, after which there was a scramble.
Hinds, however, said that when Henry came home he started misbehaving. She asked that he be placed on bond and should be given counselling.
At that point, Police Prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford said that Henry kicked Hinds in her belly, put his t-shirt around her neck and pulled it. Hinds, he said, had to fight to get it off. Henry then got a knife and told her that he was going to kill her.
Henry was remanded to prison. The parties were then referred to the probation office with a report to be submitted on April 22.
