A policeman is under close arrest after he was caught on tape stealing monies intended for salaries from the Ruimveldt Police Station where he is stationed.
A press released from the police yesterday said that an investigation has been launched into the simple larceny of $211,905 which was stolen from the office of the Subordinate Officer in charge of the Ruimveldt Police Station between 20:00 hrs on March 19 and 08:00 hrs on March 20.
The release added that a police lance corporal, who is a suspect in the matter, was placed under close arrest after a review of the closed circuit cameras in place at the station, was done.
The money has been recovered.
