Car plunges into trench at Linden

Five persons including the driver of motor car PLL 8082 escaped with just a dousing when the car careened off the road and landing in a trench at Linden.

Jason Hinds, driver of the ill-fated car PLL 8082, sits and looks unbelievingly at the car in the trench.

The incident occurred just about 4.30 pm along Sir David Rose Avenue at Mackenzie. Explaining his plight, the driver Jason Hinds said he had just arrived from Georgetown and was heading into central Mackenzie.

While approaching a deep turn, he said, he noticed a blue car in his lane. “I wasn’t doing no kinda speed coming to the turn and I see dis blue car speeding in meh lane. I pull over to the corner and hit a pool a water and that skid me straight in de trench,” he explained.

His story was supported by another driver who said the blue car had overtaken him at high speed and was still in the wrong lane. “I am absolutely sure that driver saw what happened and he didn’t even stop he speed away and didn’t even stop to try and assist the people out of the car,” the witness said. Persons quickly converged on the scene jumping into the trench to pull the driver and its passengers to safety. The driver was unhurt and the four passengers escaped with minor injuries. They were taken to the Mackenzie Hospital Complex where they were treated.
