Statements still not ready in ‘Cobra’ armed robbery matter

Tyrone Rowe called ‘Cobra’ made another appearance yesterday before the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Court but was told for the second time that statements had not yet been filed in the matter of the alleged armed robbery on Troy Collins.

When asked by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry before whom the matter was called if statements were ready, Prosecutor Lionel Harvey said  no.

When the matter was called on November 30 last, the charge was re-read to Rowe who up to that time had been charged alone. The man was subsequently arraigned along with Anand Lalchand and Dwayne Critchlow who at that time were still at large.

Lalchand was, however, present yesterday while a warrant remains in effect for Critchlow’s arrest.
The matter was adjourned to February 18 for statements.

The allegation against the now jointly charged trio is that on March 1 at Georgetown, being armed with a gun, they robbed Troy Collins of a quantity of gold and other items to the tune of $1.4M.
The virtual complainant was not present at court.
