Chopping victim in stable condition

Trevor Nero, the man who was chopped multiple times about the body in Albouystown on Tuesday night, spent several hours in the operating theatre yesterday and is now in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Nero, 44, is currently a patient in the GPHC’s Male Surgical Ward. Nero, his brother Theo told Stabroek News, sustained deep wounds to the forehead, hands, feet and chest. The wound on Nero’s forehead, Theo said yesterday, is three inches in length.

When Stabroek News visited the hospital shortly before 4.30pm yesterday, Nero was still undergoing surgery. However, Theo said that he was able to see his injured sibling later in the afternoon. “He look strong and so, when the operation effects die out, he going to be alright,” Theo reported.

Nero, he said, related that the incident occurred some time around 11.30 pm on Tuesday at James Street, Albouystown. “He tell me that this man (the attacker) voice he, but he ain’t really take he on and just answer he and turn he back,” Theo said. “And this man just go home for a cutlass and come back and start firing chops.”

The attacker, he added, has since been arrested and police have indicated to them that the man will be charged shortly for wounding Nero. He further alleged that the attacker had been consuming alcohol before the incident.

Nero, his brother further said, lived with another brother at Middle Road, La Penitence but would usually hang out on James Street, where the incident occurred.
