Wilbert Benjamin gives to Flying Ace Cycling Club

Former national cyclist Wilbert Benjamin made a donation of cycling attire and equipment to the Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) yesterday.

Benjamin who owns the Benjamin Sports Sales, Service, Parts and Accessories store in Toronto, Canada, made the donation which totals Cdn$3,000 to head coach of the FACC, Randolph Roberts.

Benjamin who is a former member of the FACC which is located in New Amsterdam said he normally makes donations to his former club whenever he is in Guyana.

The Canada-based businessman, who said he looks for nothing in return, has made five donations so far and stated that he sees potential in the cyclists of the club and wants to help in every way in their development. Benjamin has also made donations to national cycling coach Hassan Mohamed’s ‘Teach Them Young’ programme.

Roberts thanked Benjamin for his support and said he is very grateful for the gear which includes helmets, clothing, gear wheels, speedometers and other equipment.

Roberts said further  that the gear will be put to good use by the 20 cyclists in the club and he hopes other sponsors can follow in Benjamin’s footsteps.
