Armed duo robs cell phone store

A cellular phone store at Grove, East Bank Demerara was yesterday invaded by armed men, who carted off computers and a few cellular phones.

According to reports, the robbery occurred around midday, while the store, Cell FX, was open.

One man, who resides above the store, related that he was upstairs having his midday meal with his children while his wife was on the phone, when the incident occurred. He said his wife then told him that she had heard a scream come from downstairs and after a while they deduced that an attack was in play. The man said that by the time he and some other men got to the scene the perpetrators had fled. “If I went there I woulda floor all two ah dem,” the man boasted.

The police were subsequently alerted and arrived some minutes after, but the bandits were already out of sight.

When this newspaper visited the scene yesterday afternoon, the store was closed. The owner, known only as Mahadeo, when contacted declined to comment on the matter.
