A 27-year-old taxi driver was said to be in a critical state at the Georgetown Public Hospital last evening after his face was disfigured by another man during a row at a shop at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.

According to the injured man’s relatives who gathered at GPH they arrived at the institution sometime around 8 pm and up to 10.15 pm Jagroop was still sitting in the Emergency Room waiting for a doctor to attend to him.

The matter was reported to the police outpost at the hospital and investigations are said to be ongoing. However, attempts to determine whether the assailant was arrested proved unsuccessful.

Jagroop was described as a peacemaker and was said to have no known enemies and his relatives are baffled as to what may have sparked the altercation resulting in him being disfigured.
