GDF wins GFA Super Eight title

The Guyana Defence Force Friday night came from a goal down to defeat Sunburst Camptown 3-1 in the final of the Banks DIH sponsored Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Super Eight competition at the Georgetown Football Club ground.
The win was worth one million dollars and a trophy.

Sunburst Camptown led 1-0 at half time but was unable to withstand the second half pressure exerted by the GDF which resulted in goals off the boots of Desford Williams, Eusi Phillips and Marlon Benjamin.

In the third place playoff Santos edged Fruta Conquerors 4-3 to capture the cash incentive and trophy at stake.

Edward Austin scored for Santos in the third minute, William Europe in the 24th minute, Leron Charles in the 57th minute and Odel Williams in the 65th minute.

Michael Henry with two goals in the 48th and 75th minutes and Jamal Greaves with a 70th minute strike, were Conquerors goal scorers.
