NCBL to resume late November

The National Community Basketball League (NCBL) will resume on the second to last weekend of November after an extended break due to various reasons.

The disclosure came from one of the organizers of the tournament Kwame Mentor who said the tournament will end with a bang with the semifinal and final scheduled for the last two week-ends of November.

The league, which went dormant after the All-Star break in early August, suffered further setbacks owing to the Linden uprising along with the unavailability of the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall before getting back on track.

However, Mentor believes that despite the extended and unwanted break the NCBL served its purpose for basketball in Guyana.
“Yeah I think basketball started gaining momentum in Guyana again so I think it most definitely served its purpose but we are fine tuning things and should do an official release soon for the continuation of the tournament,” Mentor told Stabroek Sport.

The four remaining teams in the tournament are McDoom/Diamond, Western Union Central Mackenzie, Western Union Plaisance/ Vryheid’s Lust and Wismar.

In the semi-finals, Western Union Central Mackenzie will face McDoom/Diamond while Wismar will take on Western Union Plaisance/Vryheid’s Lust.
