Golfers will battle for top honours today in the annual Stag Beer Mashramani tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club. Tee off time is 12:30 hours.
Approximately 35 golfers will tee off in the tournament sponsored by Ansa Mc Al Trading Inc. with some of the country’s leading players expected to be on show.
Avinash Persaud, the national men’s champion, Mohanlall Dinannauth, Imran Khan, Alfred Mentore, Colin Ming and William Walker will all be in contention for the top prize .
The defending champion is George Bulkan.
Also on the list of participants are Ansa McAl’s Marketing Director Troy Cadogan, Kishan Bacchus, Sookram Deosarran, Muntaz Haniff, Brian Hackett, Robert Hanoman, Carlos Adams, Maurice Solomon, Clifford Reis, Chatterpaul Deo, Patrick Prashad, John Tracey, Mike Guyadin, Christine Sukhram, Joaan Deo, Dr. John Ramsingh, Mark Lashley, Gavin Todd, Jerome Khan, Ronald Bulkan, Brian Glasford, Munaff Arjune, Rawle Moore and Albert Semple.
The player with the best net score will be declared the winner. Last year three players ended on a 69 net but failed to challenge the net 67 shot by Bulkan.
There will also be prizes for second and third place positions, the longest drive, nearest to the pin and the best gross.
The sponsors have also indicated that players will receive other incentives.
Darshanie Yusuf, Ansa McAl Trading Public Relations Officer (PRO) as well as other company officials are expected to be on hand to present prizes to the winners.
Officials say they hope that the weather remains favourable.
