Bicycle bandits pounce on duo after car stalls at Mc Doom

Two men whose car broke down on the East Bank Demerara public road at Mc Doom early yesterday morning had more bad luck when they became the target of armed bicycle bandits.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News yesterday that the car the men were in broke down around 4 am. He said they were heading in the direction of Georgetown.

Shortly after three men on bicycles approached them and one brandished a gun, Persaud said adding that they relieved one man of a wallet and $10,500 and the other of a silver chain and some cash.

No arrests have been made as yet.

Asked if there is an upsurge in bicycle robberies, he said, “not much more than before”.
