PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, , CMC- Reigning Caribbean champions Trinidad and Tobago will take on defending champions USA in their opening match of the 12th Women’s Pan American Cup which will be held in Peru from June 10 to the 17.
The T and T Calypso Spikers, ranked 32nd in the world, will also do battle with 18th ranked Puerto Rico and 19th rated Argentina in their four-team group A series in the 12 team tournament.Captain Krystle Esdelle and her teammates, due to leave on Saturday for Peru, will be brimming with confidence having topped their 2014 FIVB World Championship Second Round qualifiers at home against Anguilla, Honduras and Barbados two weeks ago.The Trinidadians are competing at the Pan Am Cup for the seventh straight year with a best-ever finish—tenth for the past four years—after being 12th, both in 2007 and 2008.This year marks the first time that a South American country will host the intercontinental event, a qualifying competition to the FIVB World Grand Prix of the following year.
