Uncouth behaviour

Dear Editor,

Last week I stopped at the Kitty gas station to use the ATM Republic Bank Machine. I believe that I was at the machine for less than two minutes when a woman pushed open the door of the ATM cubicle, barged in, and asked me if I was finished. I was so taken aback by her entrance that I did not answer. She came up to the machine, pushed the ‘no’ button, pulled out my card and handed it to me, saying that she had a taxi waiting. I had already counted my money and put it in my purse, but I continued to stare at her dumbfounded. I left the cubicle in a state of anger and amazement, leaving her to do the business that was so urgent to her that it caused her to behave in such a manner.

I called the bank when I got home and advised them to fix the door to avoid these things happening. The bank employee reminded me that the woman could have used her card to swipe the door and come in anyway, but I pointed out that she would at least have had some deterrent and I might have had more time to react. In retrospect, however, I was glad that I was too shocked to react.  This uncouth daughter of Guyana probably has a guardian angel, and definitely needs one.

But look how we get na?

Yours faithfully,
