Phillip George Memorial Basketball… Pepsi Sonics down Victory Valley

Pepsi Sonics overcame Linden unit Victory Valley Royals by a 78-69 score line, when the Phillip George Memorial Basketball tournament continued on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue.  Jason Squires led the assault for the Mandela Avenue-based side as he netted a game high 18 points. Supporting with the next best score of 15 points was Collis Pluck while Sheldon Frank and Trevor Smith netted 11 points apiece.

Shooting his way to a 15-point showing in a losing cause was Chris Williams while Harold Adams supported with 14 points. The second matchup of the night saw Dynas Ravens edging Georgetown Masters by a 65-62 margin.

Jermaine Slater led the winners with 17 points while Dominic Vicente contributed 10 points. Leading the losers with a game high 19 points was Aubrey Younge while Lugard Mohan netted 16 points.

In the opening fixture of the triple-header, Republic Bank Nets defeated Berbice Rockers via walkover. The tournament is slated to continue tomorrow with a solitary fixture at the same venue.
