Grocer remanded on ganja charge

A grocery store owner was on Wednesday remanded after he was charged with having a quantity of cannabis in his possession.

Junior Melrose Flue pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated on April 21 he had in his possession 63 of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat told the court that his client was pulled out of his bed by police and taken to a neighbouring yard where he was told of the drug possession allegation.

Nevertheless, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry refused bail. Flue is expected to make his next court appearance on May 6.
