Professor Ken Danns now a World Martial Arts champion

Guyanese Sociologist and former University of Guyana Lecturer Dr. George Kenford Danns has now added a new title to his illustrious career. Dr. Danns competed last weekend at the World Champion of Champions Martial Arts Tournament at the Littlerock Statehouse and Convention Centre in Arkansas, USA and came out as the best of the Karate Masters who participated.

Dr. Danns competed in the traditional forms, sparring, traditional weapons and combat weapons sparring against the best from around the world and copped the gold medal.

Danns started his martial arts career in Guyana under Sensei Winston Dunbar at PSU and later practiced at the University of Guyana before settling at the Banks DIH Club before migrating.

This is the first time a Guyanese has won the world championship at the Tournament of Champions.
