Baugh strokes unbeaten half century

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Out-of-favour West Indies wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh stroked an unbeaten half-century to highlight the final day of the drawn two-day Jamaica trial match here Friday.

The right-hander, who has not played for West Indies in three years, hit 56 as Paul Palmer’s XI finished on 183 for seven in their second innings at Kensington Park.

Andre McCarthy supported with 37 while off-spinner Ramaal Lewis claimed four for 35.

Earlier, Brandon King’s XI had been dismissed for 238 in reply to Palmer’s XI’s first innings score of 159, after they resumed on 126 for three.

Lewis hit 31 while veteran left-arm spinner Nikita Miller chipped in with 27 down the order. Left-hander John Campbell had struck 69 on Thursday’s first day.

Seamer Ravmon Powell, who played two games during the Super50 earlier this year but is yet to play the longer form, was the best bowler with four for 40.

Pacers Marquino Mindley (2-45) and Keno Wallace (2-63) finished with two wickets apiece.

Jamaica Scorpions are preparing for the upcoming WICB Professional Cricket League which bowls off next month.
