Albion a ‘no show’ RHTYSC crowned champs

Port Mourant Cricket Club Ground (PMCC) but the RHTYSC boys were kept waiting as their opponents never showed up resulting in the title being awarded to the new champs. Efforts by this newspaper to contact members of the club proved futile as calls went unanswered.

However, BCB President Anil Beharry in an invited comment said that the board was “disappointed” with the outcome of the final and explained that an investigation will be launched and the Competitions Committee will deal with the situation immediately. He also said that the board too had made unsuccessful attempts to acquire answers from the Albion camp but added that they planned to pursue the situation and discuss it with the club as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, the ceremonial handing over of the winner’s cheque was carried out but the faces of the RHTYSC boys showed that they had been looking forward to an intense day of cricket in front of what was beginning to build like a potentially huge crowd turnout. Skipper and former National U19 skipper Shawn Perreira accepted the winning spoils on behalf of his team who played well throughout the competition.
