Father and sons charged with stealing bull

A father and his two sons, said to have been found with the carcass of a bull they stole, were granted $25,000 bail each after they denied a larceny charge in a city court yesterday.

David Edwards, 51, Cleveland Edwards, 21 and Peter Edwards, 30, yesterday pleaded not guilty to a charge alleging that between January 18 and January 19, at Annai Village, North Rupununi, they stole a bull, valued $72,000 and which was the property of Randolph Gilbert.

It was brought to the court’s attention by Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones that when police officers went to recover the bull, it was already chopped up.

The defendants were each granted $25,000 bail and are to appear before the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on March 2 for their next hearing.
