Defending champions struggling to fund play-offs trip to Jamaica

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC-The defending champions of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship, Trinidad and Tobago’s Central FC Sharks, are struggling to raise the money to fund their trip to Jamaica to participate in the Group Three play-offs this week.

Operations manager Kevin Harrison says the club is finding it difficult to meet its expenses because the Sport Company of T&T broke a promise to cover the $130, 000 for airfare and accommodation.

Harrison says the Club is also yet to collect a one million dollar purse for winning the Digicel Pro League, but vows that his players will be in Jamaica for the play-offs which run from Wednesday to Sunday.

“By the hook or the crook, we will be going,” Harrison said in an interview with the Guardian.

“I cannot tell you how, but I just know we will be going.”
