Pouderoyen prevails in sudden death penalty kicks

Pouderoyen were crowned the West Demerara Football Association sanctioned Den Amstel Mash Cup Champs, downing Uitvlugt in the grand finale on Saturday at the Den Amstel ground.

Pouderoyen sealed their berth to the grand finale by edging Eagles 2-1 in the semi-final round before prevailing in the final 7-6 on sudden death kicks.

Prior to the eventual conclusion, the normal and extra time interval failed to separate the teams and the match ended 0-0. Pouderoyen received the championship trophy and $200,000 while Uitvlugt, who defeated Den Amstel 1-0 in the semi-final round will receive $100,000 and the respective accolade.

In the earlier third place playoff, Eagles FC downed the home side by a 3-2 margin. Eagles walked away with $75,000 and the corresponding trophy while the tourney hosts received $50,000 and the respective accolade.
