GCB makes donation to blind cricket association

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) recently weighed in with a monetary contribution to the Guyana Blind Cricket Association (GuyBCA) ahead of the West Indies Cricket Council for the Blind and Visually Impaired (WICCBVI) regional tournament commencing July 8 in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to a press release, GCB President, Drubahadur, in making the donation, wished the team success at the tournament.

Drubahur, the release stated, added that the GCB has always been supportive of GuyBCA and will continue to do so as they play a very integral part in the society.

He also urged the team to perform to their best in the tournament so that their players could be selected to represent the West Indies Blind Cricket Team at the World Cricket Council for the Blind (WCCB) T20 World Cup in November this year in India.

Executive Member of GuyBCA, Cecil Morris, thanked the GCB for its continuous support, positing that the donation would help immensely in their preparation.

He added that the players were extremely grateful for the contribution and said that it would be an honour for some of the players to represent the West Indies Blind Cricket Team at the WCCB World T20 Cup.

The regional tournament, where Guyana would play Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and a combine team from the Islands after which the top two teams will contest the final. The tournament ends July 16.
