Seven clubs to contest King of the Ring b/ball c/ships in Linden

Kwakwani will join a field of six clubs from the mining town of Linden to compete in the third Rock Entertainment King of the Ring basketball championships commencing Saturday.

The event, which will be hosted in its entirety at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hardcourt, will be officially launched on Thursday at the Linden Enterprise Network (LEN) building on Republic Avenue.

The tournament will be played over three weekends beginning this weekend before continuing on August 13th and 14th and concluding August 20th with the final.

Alongside Kwakwani, Retrieve Raiders, Half Mile Bulls, Victory Valley Royals, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Block 22 Flames and Bankers Trust Falcons will also be in the hunt for the top prize.

Winner of the event will pocket $100,000, medals and the championship trophy while the losing finalist will receive $75,000, medals and the respective accolade.

The third placed unit will collect $25,000 and a trophy.

Meanwhile, there will also be an award for the Most Disciplined Team whilst on the individual side, a trophy will be up for grabs for the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Registration for the tourney is $5000 per club while the official tourney rules and fixtures will be presented to the teams at the launch ceremony.
