National Athletes Database Launched

In an effort to improve the quality of sports administration and team selection, the National Sports Commission (NSC) officially displayed their much hyped National Athletes Database program.

The project which had an initial startup cost of $ 2,800, 000, was commissioned as a medium for tracking athletic information for the various sporting associations. The database is expected to be available in the public domain shortly.

Speaking at a press conference held at the entity’s homestretch location, Director of Sports Christopher Jones said that the NSC has yet to receive information

from several associations, noting the Guyana Table Tennis Association is one of the bodies that has already made available their athletic information.

According to Jones “The challenge facing us is where could you access information and confirm its accuracy. We will be cross-referencing and ensuring it’s the most accurate,” adding that the information received from the respective associations will be used to select the best athletes for international assignments.

He further added, “We at the NSC will have this information and will send out messages to these associations to remind them of elections, and if the constitution isn’t followed, we will not be providing funding for these associations.”

Meanwhile Intellect Storms’ Information Systems Architect Rowen Willabus during a brief comment said “I think it’s a great initiative by NSC to chronicle data regarding the information.”
