Federal Winners Connection team receives GT Beer c/ships prizes

Three time winners Federal Winners Connection officially received their prizes for winning the third annual GT Beer Football Championship on Tuesday at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Centre in Linden.

The defending champs edged Silver Shattas 1-0 in the grand finale at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) on January 1st and were presented with the $800,000 first prize, medals and the championship trophy.

Silver Shattas collected the second place trophy and $500,000 while Topp XX collected $300,000 and a trophy after edging Netrockers 1-0 in the third place playoff. Netrockers received S$200,000 and a trophy.

Derrol Dainty of the winning team, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) while the other individual prizes will be awarded shortly.

According to an official release, GT Beer Brand Manager Geoff Clement said, “I also want to congratulate the winning team Federal Winners Connection for the third year, this is amazing and I am throwing out the challenge to the Linden community to take up the challenge in taking the championship from Winners Connection who have won this championship three years in a row.”

Clement added,” I am happy that this competitive match was associated with GT Beer because GT Beer is a competitive product in this market and I want to give thanks to the community members of Linden to fir the sales of GT Beer thus far in our company.

“I have not seen football at that level in years and I must congratulate the players, especially for the final match between Winners Connection and Silver Shattas for the competitiveness which was really outstanding,” Clement declared.

Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) President Sharma Solomon thanked Banks DIH Limited for their continued support of the event, declaring the entity has always contributed to the sport in the region for over 20 years.
