Bishops’ High beat St. Joseph’s 52-1 at basketball

President’s College squeaked past Plaisance Secondary 41-34 in the U19 division when the National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) Georgetown Regional Conference continued Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Anton Fileen was the outstanding player for the winners with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Contributing seven points and six rebounds in the win was Patal Whittington whilst Akeem Crandon added six points and 14 rebounds.

For the losers, Nigel Bowen scored 15 points while Jared Sears added seven points and 14 rebounds.

In the second fixture of the section, Marian Academy secured a walkover from St. Joseph’s High.

In the girls division, Bishops’ High dismantled St. Joseph’s High 52-1.

Kesaan Charles recorded figures of 26 points, seven steals, four rebounds and three assists while Demelza Nicholas registered 16 points, five rebounds and as many steals.

Chipping in with four points, eight rebounds and seven steals was Ruth Sanmogan. Deslyn Leitch scored St Joseph’s only point from the free throw line. The Georgetown Expanded Regional Conference will resume on June 2nd.
