Junior ranks promoted by police

JUNIOR RANKS PROMOTION On the occasion of the Guyana Police Force 178th Anniversary the undermentioned promotions to the rank of Corporal to Sergeant, Lance Corporal and Constable to Corporal and Constable to Lance Corporal have been approved by the Commissioner of Police with effect from July 08, 2017.

Rupununi urged to prepare for the worst

With heavy rainfall forecast for northern Brazil over the weekend, the head of the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) Retired Colonel Chabilall Ramsarup yesterday warned that flood affected residents of Region Nine (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo) would have to prepare for the worst.

Puran Bros, Cevons suspend city garbage collection

Puran Brothers Disposal Inc and Cevons Waste Management have withdrawn their garbage collection services from Georgetown due to the failure of the cash-strapped Mayor and City Council (M&CC) to meet its financial commitments to the two companies, which are owed in excess of $300 million.

Demerara brush aside Essequibo by 95 runs

– Match between Berbice and President’s XI abandoned Demerara’s female Under – 19 cricket team yesterday  defeated Essequibo by 95 runs in the opening match of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) female Under-19 tournament at the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road.
