A man is now a remanded prisoner after being charged with stealing more than $2 million worth of appliances from his cousin.

The charge against Akeem Prince states that between June 1st and June 25th, at Sugar Cane Street, South Ruimveldt, he broke into the dwelling house of Forbes Prince and stole appliances valued $2,332,000, which belonged to Romario Prince.

Akeem denied the charge, while Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected to bail citing the prevalence and seriousness of the offence.

He then told the court that a neighbour caught Akeem Prince moving the appliances and immediately alerted the police. He also noted that if granted bail, Akeem Prince might interfere with the complainant or continue stealing from him as they live at the same address.

After listening to the prosecutor, Magistrate Faith McGusty remanded Akeem Prince to prison and the case was adjourned until July 19th, 2019.
