Ian Jardine off to officiate 48th world title fight in Jamaica

Decorated international boxing referee Ian Jardine, yesterday, departed Guyana to officiate his 48th world title fight. 

Jardine was recently conferred with the Medal Of Service by His Excellency David Granger for his service to the boxing fraternity. He will roll on the latex gloves to sanction the much-anticipated bout between Venezuelan Williams Ocando and Russian Vladimir Tereshkin on Saturday at the Ambassador Theatre in Treanch Town, Jamaica. The duo will trade punches in the heavyweight title event.   The Guyanese official began his professional career in August 1985 and have since officiated 92 title fights. 

He began his career in 1974. Stabroek Sports caught up with him before he departed where he expressed his fulfilment of once again featuring on the international stage. He added that all Guyanese should feel proud of his accomplishments.
