A woman who was charged with damage to property was yesterday sentenced to nine months in jail after she admitted to the offence and created an uproar in court.

Venessa Schroder pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that yesterday at Hadfield and Cross Streets, Georgetown, she unlawfully and maliciously damaged a motor car window valued at $69,900. The car belongs to Donna Bailey.

The charge was read by Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Five.

After admitting to the charge, Schroder said that she is a victim of an alleged robbery and was waiting for the suspect to be charged. After learning that the suspect won’t be charged until tomorrow, Schroder said she got angry and damaged the car.

“I ain’t going no prison. If I go to prison I gon bore up everybody,” Schroder shouted angrily to the court. Further, Schroder stated that she intentionally damaged the car and maintained that she is not “mad.”

Attorney Kizzie Williams, who represented Bailey told the magistrate that Bailey never provoked the defendant. Further she said that Schroder is clearly a threat and should be institutionalised.

Upon hearing that, Schroder started shouting indecent words to Williams, who stayed silent. The officers present in court tried silencing her to no avail. The Magistrate then sentenced Schroder to nine months in jail.
