Quacy Jupiter, the 18-year-old who on Monday told a city court that he committed two armed robbery attacks because he was hungry and had no money, has been sentenced to spend the next two and a half years in jail.

Jupiter, of Lot 137 Campbell Street, Albouystown, was sentenced to prison yesterday, just one day after he admitted to the charges.

Jupiter admitted that on August 1st, at Louisa Row, while armed with a gun, he robbed Robert Rawlins and Ulric Bristol in separate attacks.

He admitted that while in the company of another and armed with a gun, he robbed Rawlins of a bicycle, a cellphone and a silver ring, amounting to $43,000 in total value.

He also admitted to robbing Bristol of a wristwatch, a cellphone, a haversack and cash, totalling $63,000 in value, in similar circumstances.

Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus sentenced him to two and a half years in prison on each charge. The sentences are to run concurrently, meaning that Jupiter will only spend two and a half years in prison.

He also faces another armed robbery charge and possession of firearms and ammunition charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. Jupiter is expected to return to court on September 23rd, when the statements concerning the other charges are to be disclosed.
