Super flyweight, Elton ‘The Guyanese Gladiator’ Dharry has cracked the top five of the WBA World rankings and a shot of the WBA Interim title is on the cards, moving him a step closer to a coveted world title shot.

According to Dharry who is rated No. 5 on the latest ranking of the WBA, a WBA Interim title bout scheduled for November in Australia, is currently in the works.

The USA based Dharry told this publication recently that he is back to sparring at the world famous, Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn following a minor hand injury in May.

Dharry is getting his mind and body in tip-top shape in order to continue his 21-fight win streak and solidify his place among the top fighters in the division.

Said Dharry recently “We have been trying to get a world title fight since we cracked the top 15. I keep hearing from different promoters without fights materializing, but promoters pick who they want to fight their champion but they see me as threat.

I’ve been doing my part, train and win my fights to maintain my status since I was in the top 15, but being in the top five looks better for me, its a bit closer and we are still shooting for that world title.”

In his last outing in May, he won the WBA Fedecentro title after he defeated Panama’s champion and former title challenger Gilberto Pedroza by unanimous decision.

The standout from the Havoc Boxing stable is excited to be back in the ring in two months.

The 5’ foot 6inch’ orthodox fighter also stated that a victory in November puts him a step closer to realizing his world title dreams.

“I’m still world rated and still on a mission to bring Guyana another world title and I’m not gonna stop until I get it” said the 33 year-old.

‘TGG’ is looking forward to the continued support of the strong Dharry Army which has been in his corner lending support.

Note: As of last year, Dharry held the WBC Caribbean (CABOFE) Bantamweight Title, Guyana National Bantamweight Title, IBF Intercontinental Title and WBU Americas Bantamweight Title. He is currently aiming to add world champion to his resume.
