A shooting on Saturday night in Amelia’s Ward, Linden, has left one man dead and his partner hospitalised.

Dead is Eon Williams called ‘OJ’. The injured woman has been identified as Melita Antigua, who is said to be Williams’ girlfriend. The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Saturday in Central Amelia’s Ward. This newspaper understands that Antigua and Williams were in a relationship and the young woman sustained two gunshot wounds and is in a critical condition in the hospital.

Some residents told Stabroek News that on Saturday evening, they witnessed one vehicle which was being followed by another, passing through the area and subsequently, they heard gunshots. This led some to believe that the vehicle that Williams was in was being trailed by another.

Reports received further indicated that the incident could be one that is linked to an ongoing gang feud in the Linden area and Williams might have been targeted as he is related to alleged gang leader and former police officer Teon Allen called ‘Spoil Child’. Earlier this month, the police had issued a wanted bulletin for Allen, who is wanted in relation to the attempted murder of two women in Linden.

Calls to the divisional commander last evening for further information about the incident and the possible link to the gang feud proved futile.
