Conquerors crowned Limacol U20 football champs after 2-0 defeat of Santos

Fruta Conquerors U20 was crowned the Limacol Football Champion, defeating Santos 2-0 on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The clash was decided in the second half of the extra time interval following a scoreless regulation time interval.

A defensive error produced the first conversion of the evenly matched contest as emerging star Nicholas MacArthur scored in the 116th minute.

A right sided cross from the wingback dropped and bounced between the two center-halves and into the path of the onrushing forward, who headed past the advancing goalkeeper.

The result was then sealed three minutes later as MacArthur made his presence felt once more to complete his brace.

The goal was orchestrated was Ryan Hackett who initiated a perfectly weighted through pass which allowed MacArthur to race away from his marker and finish past the advancing goalkeeper inside the penalty area.

With the win, the Tucville outfit received $400,000 and the championship trophy. On the other hand, the loser pocketed $200,000 and the respective accolade.

Similarly the exploits of MacArthur also earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Goalscorer Accolades of the competition. 

Likewise teammate Joel Yhap copped the Best Goalkeeper title. Meanwhile in the third place playoff, Riddim Squad defeated Pele by a 1-0 scoreline.

Due to the outcome, the winner walked away with $100,000 while the loser collected $50,000.
