Fruta Conquerors U-20 and Riddim Squad earned their semifinal berths in the 4th annual Limacol Football Championship, following quarterfinal wins on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Fruta Conquerors defeated Timehri Panthers 3-1. Nicholas MacArthur handed the Tucville unit the lead in the fifth minute. Racing into the penalty area, MacArthur directed his header into the back of the net, after latching onto a left side cross.

The wily forward would make his presence felt once more as he found the back of the net in the 11th minute. Lurking inside the six yard area, MacArthur unleashed a back-heeled attempt which settled into the left corner, after receiving a flat right sided cross.

The scoreline would remain unchanged heading into the halftime interval.

Following the resumption, Ryan Hackett got into the scoring act to make it 3-0 in the 75th minute, rifling a left foot shot into the far corner.

On the other side, Timehri recorded a consolation goal in the 90th minute via a Junior Adams conversion.

Meanwhile, Riddim Squad edged Mahaica 7-6 on sudden death penalty kicks after regulation and extra time ended 1-1.

The initial round of penalty kicks finished 4-4, with both teams missing once from the distance. Prior to the eventual finish, Riddim Squad took the lead in the 12th minute through Kevin Gordon. However, the lead was short-lived as Eion Abel levelled proceedings in the 23rd minute.

The semifinal round will commence tomorrow at the same venue.
