Labourer gets 14 months for $1.5M break and enter theft

A labourer who stole more than $1.5 million in articles from the home of a woman was on Friday sentenced to 14 months in prison after a city magistrate found him guilty of the offence.

The charge against Ceon Isaacs, 26, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, alleged  that on July 12th, 2019, at Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Sandra Adams and stole articles valued $1,140,000, a television valued $364,000, a diamond nose ring valued $10,000 and a Samsung charger valued $10,000.

Isaacs was found guilty of the offence by Magistrate Rondell Weaver at the conclusion of his trial and he was ordered to serve a 14-month sentence.

According to information presented by the police, Adams observed Isaacs putting the stolen articles in the trunk of a car, which was parked on the road at least 50-ft away from her home. Upon closer inspection, she realised that some of the articles looked familiar and shouted at Isaacs, who panicked and ran. However, he was caught by public-spirited persons in the area. Some of the articles were recovered and he was arrested and charged.
