Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Milerock earned quarterfinal berths when the Guyana Football Federation [GFF] year-end championships started Sunday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

The lawmen arrested Timehri Panthers 6-2. Five players were on target in the lopsided clash as Jamal Harvey registered a brace in the 10th and 21st minute. Chipping in with goals in the 24th, 52nd, 64th and 74th minute respectively were Calwyn Adams, Daniel Wilson, Darren Benjamin and Trayon Bobb.

 For Timehri Panthers, Lloyd Matthews and Jarel Walcott scored in the 60th and 75th minute respectively. Meanwhile, Milerock defeated Pele 2-0 with Jose Depaz and Rawle Gittens finding the back of the net in the 51st and 59th minute respectively.

The event will then resume on December 20th at the Beterverwagting [BV] ground with another doubleheader. Buxton Stars will engage Fruta Conquerors while Buxton United will battle New Amsterdam United. This will be followed by matches on the 21st.

Georgetown powerhouse Western Tigers will match skills with Rivers View in Bartica in the lone fixture while Guyana Defence Force will take aim at Mainstay Gold Stars in Essequibo. The first round of matches will conclude on the 22nd at the National Track and Field Center, Leonora.

Santos will match skills with Eagles at 18:30hrs while Riddim Squad will faceoff with defending champion Den Amstel at 21:00hrs in the main attraction. The respective winners will progress to the quarterfinal section.

The team emerging the winner on January 1st, 2020 will be rewarded with two million dollars and the championship trophy, with the losing finalist pocketing one million. The third and fourth place finishers will receive $500, 000 and $250,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
