Guyana Floodlight U15s beat Woodland CC by six wickets

Guyana Floodlight Under-15s (GFL) opened their campaign in the third Youth United States Open with a six-wicket win over Woodland Cricket Club yesterday in Florida, United States of America.

Playing at the Multipurpose Field two, GFL won the toss and sent Woodland CC in to bat. Woodland were contained to 109 for seven from their allotted 20 overs before GFL reached 114 for four with 10 balls to spare.

Four run outs plagued Woodland’s innings as GFL skipper, Alvin Mohabir returned 2 for 19. Seamer, Joash Charles (1-12) was the only other bowler to take a wicket.

Kavir Boodoosingh was the backbone of Woodland’s batting with a 64-ball 46 which featured four boundaries.

Boodoosingh forged a 58-run second wicket stand with Andre Sugal (18) as Andrew Rambaran was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 15. GFL gifted 25 extras.

In the chase, West Indies Under-15 batsman, Mavindra Dindyal then steered his side’s chase with a brisk 60. Dindyal’s innings came in just 50 balls and decorated with two fours and three sixes while adding 42 for the opening partnership with Romeo Deonarain and 45 for the second wicket with Mohabir.

Deonarain made 12 from 24 balls and stroked one four while Mohabir blasted two fours and one six in his unbeaten 22-ball 27.  Sugal bagged two for 30.

GFL will now face AK Cricket Academy in their next match.
