Lusignan Sports Club honors outstanding players at Awards Ceremony

The Lusignan Community Center Cricket Club has honoured the outstanding contributions by its members for the past two years.

Kumar Bishundial was named the Most Valuable Player, Fardeen Hasim, the most committed youth and Shamir Mohamed, manager of the year at a simple ceremony at the club’s East Coast Demerara location Sunday night.

At the junior levels, Nicholas Shiopersaud, Chandrapaul Ramraj and Romel Datterdeen were recognized for their national selection at the under-15 level while Ramraj also gained recognition for his selection at under-17. Robin Williams was presented with an award for the best under-19 player.

The best players from the club’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams respectively were duly rewarded.

In the ‘A’ team, Vishnu Ramjeet was deemed the best batsman and Bishundial the best bowler. Somnauth Bharratt copped the best wicketkeeper prize and Shazam Ali the most disciplined player.

Vickram Doodnauth was adjudged the most improved.

In the ‘B’ team, the best batsman and bowler awards went to Navendra Persaud and Ferron Kadir respectively. Alvin Moriah was named best wicketkeeper, Mike Persaud, the most improved and Floyd Jones, the most disciplined player.

Andrew ‘Suga’ Dhanraj and Mohadeo Roopnarine were given special service awards for their efforts as curators along with special awards for Gewan Persaud, Shamir Mohamed, Chatterpaul Balkisson, Sydartha Anandjit, Kadir, Christopher Singh, Avinash Deonarine, Narvan Singh, Ravi Etwaroo, Yeuraj Khemraj, Ramjeet and Bishundial.

Journalists, Avenash Ramzan, Zaheer Mohamed and Romario Samaroo were recognized for their efforts.

Performance based awards were given to Krishna Deosarran, Persaud, Williams and Leon Morgan for scoring centuries while Ramjeet, Ramraj, Rajindra Naikbarran, Bishundial, Vickram Doodnauth, Rajpaul Basdeo and Kadir were awarded for taking five-wicket hauls.
