Vagrant killed during fight for sleeping spot at Corriverton market

A vagrant was fatally stabbed on Friday evening during a fight with two other vagrants for a vacant sleeping spot on a stall at the Corriverton Market.

The deceased, who has been identified as only “Tyron,” was discovered with a wound on the left side of his chest on Saturday morning.

It is suspected that he was murdered between Friday evening around 9.45 pm and Monday around 1 am.

The two suspects, Imran Khan, also known as “Peter,” and Dave Jacobs, also known as “David”, 19, have since been arrested.

According to a police source, while in custody the suspects accused each other of murdering the deceased.

Based on information gathered by police, on Friday evening the deceased and the two suspects had a dispute about the vacant sleeping spot on one of the stalls, which resulted in an argument during which the deceased was stabbed.

Lawmen in the area were contacted after it was noticed that the deceased’s body, which was clad in a grey and white striped jersey and blue three quarter pants, was seen laying in a curled position with his hands holding his chest, in a pool of blood.

The deceased was picked up and taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is presently in the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination, while police are continuing their investigation.
