Bodybuilding executives plan to do heavy lifting in 2020

The powers that be within the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Inc. has a clear vision for the muscle sport in 2020.

According to President of the federation, Keavon Bess, a lot of heavy lifting will be done to ensure that bodybuilding in the 592 exceeds expectations as year’s past.

Bess stated that “2020 is here and we will raise the curtains with our Novices Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship on the evening of the 15th day of February, at the Lichas Hall, Linden.”

He added “This year we will add several competitions to our local roster and to start that off, we will be introducing the Mr. Linden Classic which would share the stage with the Novices Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship.”

In an effort to decentralize the discipline, Bess disclosed that the next event on the calendar will be held in the Ancient County.

‘Shortly after we will head to Berbice to have the Intermediates Championship and the Mr. Berbice Classic.” The specific date will be announced at later.

Next up will be the flagship National Senior Championships which will be held in July at a specific date and venue to be named.

Following ‘Nationals’, Guyana athletes and officials will depart for Colombia for the Centra America and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships.

Said Bess “Two teams will fly out to Colombia to represent Guyana. One that will represent us on the CAC stage with a quest to gain gold medals and the other team to represent us before the CAC Congress to present our bid to host CAC 2022.”

Bess concluded by saying “It’s going be a great year for the sport of bodybuilding for Guyana.”
