GYO in the driver’s seat against Ace Warriors

Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) secured first innings points over Ace Warriors yesterday in the weekend’s lone fixture of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Noble House Seafoods, second-division, two-day competition at GYO.

\GYO, batting first, piled on 272 for seven declared with the elegant left-hander Darshan Persaud stroking an unbeaten 61 to guide his side to a competitive first-innings score.

Ramsammy (46), and Yeudistir Persaud (33). The latter and Deonarine shared a 93-run opening stand and were both dismissed by left-arm seamer Mark Cumberbatch (4-44) who missed out on a five-for. 

Meanwhile, Ace Warriors in response were skittled out for 81 just before the close to surrender first innings honours. Seamer Demetri Cameron was the chief destroyer, capturing 5-23 while Divesh Ramjattan supported with 2-9. Day two bowls off at 10:30hrs.
