Lady Jags takes on Cayman Islands in round of 16 action

The Lady Jaguars will face-off this evening at 21:00hrs with the Cayman Islands in the round of 16 section of the CONCACAF Women’s U20 football championships at the Felix Sanchez Stadium in the Dominican Republic.

The Guyana team enters the match on the back of a 3-0 loss to defending champions Mexico while the Cayman Islands in their previous engagement, defeated St. Kitts and Nevis 3-2.

In terms of the statistics, Guyana, who ended the group stage with a record of two wins and a loss, recorded five goals on the attacking end. On the defensive side of the ball, Guyana has also conceded five goals.

For Cayman Islands, who enter the contest with a record of one win and two losses, three goals have been recorded by their offence and defensively, they have allowed an unwanted 12 concessions.

Guyana’s squad for the clash will be selected from Goalkeepers Raven Edwards-Dowdall, Aneesa O’Brien, Defenders Brianne Desa, Jade Vyfhuis, Jessica Myers, Sydney Puddicombe, Hailey David, Anaya Johnson, Midfielders Kiana Khedoo, Serena McDonald, Shamya Daniels, Siacy Adams, Jenea Knight, Audrey Narine, Tori DeNobrega, Samantha Banfield and Forwards Nailah Rowe, Shanice Alfred, Tiandi Smith and Makayla Rudder.

To date, former five time champions USA and two time winners Canada have already secured their place in the quarterfinal section. According to CONCACAF, the eventual finalists will qualify for the 2020 FIFA World Cup, which is to be hosted by Panama and Costa Rica.
