The 2020 National Chess Championship has been postponed to a date to be announced in due course.

The country’s foremost chess players were scheduled to begin the championship three weeks ago, but that was not to be. Ten players will contest the nine-round, round-robin championship:  Anthony Drayton, the 2019 national champion; Taffin Khan, Wendell Meusa, Loris Nathoo, Glenford Corlette, Davion Mars, Errol Tiwari, Saeed Ali, Adrian Ramnarine and Rai Sharma.

Meanwhile, the Under-16 Development Tournament has also been postponed to a later date. Four rounds have been completed in this seven-round competition. Ronan Lee of Marian Academy is leading.
