Scotiabank implements social distancing policy due to coronavirus

In an effort to prevent and reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Scotiabank Guyana has introduced a new policy which addresses social distancing.

The social distancing policy will reduce and limit the number of persons inside the bank at any one time.

In an advertisement published in Stabroek News on Friday, the bank informed customers that “social distancing can help to keep you safe.”

The bank said that while they are closely monitoring the situation, persons who choose to bank in-person will be doing so at their discretion.

“Please note there is a limit to the number of persons that can enter the branch and conduct business at any given time,” the notice said, while explaining that should the limit be reached, persons will be asked to sit or stand in a way that ensures there is sufficient space between them and those next to them.

The bank explained that “these measures are

necessary to enforce social distancing, a proven way to slow pandemics.”

On the bank’s website, it was stated that employees are kept informed of the latest precautionary measures to ensure that their workplaces remain safe for everyone.

“We are conducting regular deep cleaning of our branches every business day, including sanitising of all surfaces (door handles, ATM keypads and screens, pin pads, chair handles, desks, reception areas, teller wickets and washrooms), and hand sanitiser is available in-branch for use by both employees and customers,” the website advised.

Scotiabank also stated that persons can carry out most of their banking activities online or via the mobile app.

Persons who have questions or concerns about their Scotiabank accounts or products can call 223-4357, which is available 24 hours.
