As investigators continue to probe the execution-style killing of Linden clothes vendor, Glenroy Chapman, one suspect remains in custody, Commander of Region 10 Hugh Winter said.

Three others who were arrested for questioning have since been released.

Last Tuesday, Winter had told Stabroek News that the police were “putting the pieces together” in the investigation.

“We are trying to put the pieces together,” he had said.

Stabroek News had reported that Chapman called “G” was shot several times about his body on April 13th while he was seated in front of his Wismar, Linden home.

The police, in a press release said enquiries revealed that the 43-year-old Chapman was seated on a bench in front of his yard with a man between 6 pm and 6.30 pm when the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, approached them from an eastern direction and shot Chapman.

The suspect, who was masked, escaped on foot.

The motive for the killing remains unclear. However, robbery has been ruled out.

A source close to the investigation had told this newspaper that investigators believe that Chapman was the target of the attack.

The killing of Chapman has left his family puzzled.

His cousin, Donnette Chapman had told Stabroek News that the family is not aware of Chapman having any issues with anyone that might have led to his demise.
