Forty-three new cases of COVID-19 confirmed

According to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, 43 new cases of the disease were confirmed yesterday.

The 43 new cases were detected from the 209 samples that were tested during the past 24 hours. The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has increased to 1,459.  The new cases are from Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Eight and Nine.

In addition, the dashboard shows that there are now 16 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while 53 persons are in institutional isolation as well as 423 persons in home isolation and 99 persons in institutional quarantine.

Of the 1,459 COVID-19 cases, 717 are males and 742 are females. The number of deaths attributed to the disease remains at 46, according to the dashboard.

Additionally, the dashboard revealed that 921 persons have recovered from the disease since it made its way to Guyana in March.
