Gajanand Singh strokes century to guide Strikers to NYC T20 Blast title

Former Guyana first-class batsman Gajanand Sigh was in full flow on Monday and stroked a majestic century to guide Strikers to an empathetic 160-run win over Pakistan First CC in the final of the NYC T20 Blast competition.

Strikers batting first, dominated the proceedings and reached 230-7 from their allotted overs after Singh carved out an unbeaten 112. His innings spanned 56 balls and included 10 sixes and five fours.

Singh got support from fellow Guyanese Richard Ramdeen who cracked a 23-ball 56.

Chiru Bhatia (3-33) ended as the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan First CC, who, in response, folded for 70 in 16.4 overs. Bhatia returned to top score with 18 as Navin Stewart (3-21), Trinson Carmichael (2-8), Hemerdra Ramdihal (2-25), Kevin Ramdeen (1-2), and Keon Lake (1-1) returned superb figures to complete the title run.  Singh ended the tournament second on the runs chart with 216 runs only behind Umer Farooq (224) of Pakistan First CC while Carmichael, another Guyanese who tuned out for Strikers, recorded 119 runs and bagged seven wickets.
