Forty-six new cases of COVID recorded in Guyana

Forty-six new COVID-19 cases were recorded yesterday with the majority of them  in Region Four.

This was revealed through the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the 46 new infections increased the total number of positive confirmed cases in the country to 6,171. The cases were recorded after some 276 more persons were tested which increased the total number of persons tested in the country to 36,135.

The new cases were recorded in six of Guyana’s ten administrative regions; four cases in Region One, one case each in Regions Three and Five, 27 in Region Four, Five in Region Six and eight in Region Ten. As a result there are now 636 active cases in the country, 34 of which are in institutional isolation and 602 which are in home isolation. Seven persons remain patients in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.

The number of deaths as a result of the virus remains at 159.
